Project Description:

Loreto College Performing Arts Centre

Client: Loreto College Marryatville Inc
Project Value: $4,206,565.00
Procurement Method: Managing Contractor

Following on from many previous projects at Loreto College, Harrold & Kite Pty Ltd were engaged as Managing Contractors for their New Performing Arts Centre. A Construction Management approach was adopted to facilitate a fast track of early works packages to commence whilst interior design & finishes were being resolved. The challenge presented on this project was to construct the new facility between two existing buildings whilst they remained in full occupation with consideration of the existing heritage gardens and Acacias Building required. Due to the complexity of the building shape and the need to marry into the existing adjoining structures, careful surveying and regular inspections and test procedures were put in place to ensure the building design brief was met. Exposed aggregate Precast Panels were used as the external veneer of the building and provide not only a unique design element to the building but act as an acoustic deflection of external noise critical to the performance space design requirements. Rainwater tanks were installed beneath the lawns for rainwater harvesting and performance glass used for both acoustic and thermal performance. A unique part of the brief was to accommodate a curved glass wall fenestration and Harrold & Kite Pty Ltd in collaboration with the Architects, Engineers and key Subcontractors gave enormous care & attention to detailing which forms the main entrance to the building
